My husband recently bought a nice, used regulator that came with an older Oceanic dive computer (non-nitrox compatible)that has the option of being able to download dive info to our PC using the appropriate software. My question is: since the Oceanic and the Aeris are basically the same computer can you use the same software for both or are we going to have to buy separate programs for each? I had been planning on buying the Aeris but now that he has an Oceanic....

Software for the pelagic computers (Aeris, Oceanic) is pretty much free, since you can just download it from Oceanic's site. The thing that costs some bucks is the interface cable. If the interface cable is the same for both the Aeris computer that you want to download (I'm assuming you have some Aeris computer) and the Oceanic computer he has, you're home free. Unfortunately, the interfaces change relatively frequently, so unless the 2 computers are pretty close in age, you may not be able to purchase just 1 cable to share.

The last cable I purchased from Oceanic was $100, so these things aren't cheap.

I hope it works out for you.
