This is sort of a continuation of another thread. In researching for the best between the DMPP and the Aeris 500AI. I came across an article about the recall of Datamatix Pro Plus computers with serial numbers ranging between #000100 - 001289. If this is old news please accept my apoligies. But I have gotten so much information from these boards I had to post this. It appears that the models are some of the first made (if the numbers started with 000001). I found this info @ http://www.cyber-diver.com/gear/recall/oceanic/oceanic.html

You are correct....this was a recall right after the DMPP was introduced. If my rusty memory serves me correctly, there was a problem with the sensor reading air pressure.

I had bought mine about 2 weeks before this recall and my serial number was close but not included. I called Oceanic to double check and they requested I return it to be sure. They replaced the unit within days and I've been using it ever since, over 4 years, with no problems at all.

Sounds good. I believe I have made up my mind.
Thanx again Dee for the info
