Hi all,

I am looking for the Oceanic OceanLink software (no longer on the Oceanic website) and cablr for the Data Plus...not the Data Plus 2. If anyone has a copy of the software Or knows where I can get it, that would be great!

Also I saw a note when searching that the OceanLink software does not work with Win XP...95 and older versions only./ Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanx!

I have a cable and software looking for a good home. :) PM me an address. Since I upgraded several years ago to the 2 button Data Plus 2, the Data Plus has just been a backup and loaner computer, so I hadn't tried until today to see if the downloader would work with Windows XP.

I have both old software on two 3-1/2" floppies, and some new software on a CD. The cable is driven by the parallel port.

The included simulator for the Data Plus (old 1 button version) works nicely --- too bad Oceanic doesn't have the same sort of simulator for later version computers.

Unfortunately, I can't get the download software to work in XP, even when running it in the Windows 95 compatibility mode. I suspect, but am not positive, that the problem is that the software wants to play some games and directly access the parallel port. In new operating systems, such as XP, user programs aren't allowed to directly access low level hardware functions like the parallel port. Perhaps some Oceanic guys will pop in and confirm or deny this.

You aren't really losing much by not having a downloader for the 1 button Data Plus. The dive profiles are very, very crude since it only logs the time that you cross 10' intervals. Very few data points and it really doesn't give much feedback as to the quality of your ascent.

harlie,

Thanx for giving it the go on XP, and for the nice offer. I am sure if you were unable to get it to work, I won't be able to either. I think I'll just use it to log dives and enter them manually into my log book. It will make a nice back up one day. ;)

Hi Charlie,

Do you still have the floppies? I finally got a hold of a computer old enough to run the software but my floppies aren't working. A newer version of the software was online when I started trying to get a computer to run the software. But it is gone now and Oceanic states they lost all copies. I am looking for Oceanic OceanLink Datatrans V 1.05 or V 1.02.

Thanks,
Daniel Hurley
