A standard submersible pressure gauge like the Tusa in the link I provided is the cheapest way to provide info about how much air you have left. You'd also need either a depth gauge and a watch or just a wrist mounted computer like my wife and I have.

If you go with a depth gauge and watch you'll be using dive tables which is fine but a computer will give you more bottom time on many dive profiles and is more flexible. You don't need an expensive air integrated computer just buy whichever of the lower priced nitrox computers you like. You can get the computer and your pressure gauge in a console if you like but alot of people end up wanting the computer on their wrist.

I bought a used Aeris XR-1 for my wife and a used Oceanic Versa Pro for me. Total price for both was $300, hers won't do nitrox but I only paid $100 for it.
