Does anyone have any information on this resort? We're planning on visiting Key Largo area March 12th and plan on making it a 5 day 2 tank dive type of trip. Any idea what dive shops and what not we should use?
Preferably looking for pace that does six packs and takes you to sites with lots of marine life

try this link.I stayed there in august on a trip and did not have any problems.

Crystal Clear Charters are nearby with 2 boatas, 1 in Tavernier (about 10 min away) and the other up the road at the Pilot House. They are not 6 packs but will take care of you.

I own one of the units at Ocean Pointe. Most of the units are two bedroom, two bath, but there are a few 1 bedroom. Two bedroom units are pretty large, at about 800 sq feet. Fully stocked kitchens in all units. Large swimming pool, artifical beach and marina. If you have a boat, you can have it docked there while you are staying. Very quiet, but very friendly atmosphere. No diving on site. However, just to the south (about 2 miles) is the bridge over the Tavernier Creek. Right after the bridge, there are dive shops on each side of the road. One of those shops MAY be willing to pick you up.

P.S. The Dairy Queen right there on US 1 has great hamburgers

Ya me and my brother dive and my moms just coming to hang out but i think weve booked a place there. So i'm tryin learn whats all around there and what the suites are like. Is there any good snorkeling on the beach?

There are numerous dive operators in The Upper Keys with smaller boats. We, at Silent World, run 2 Island Hoppers which carry a max of 13 each. I would suggest calling around and finding a shop that fits your personality.

Unfortunately, the snorkeling from the shore is poor (remember, the dive boats need to take you out about 3 miles to find the reef!). Why not find a boat that will carry divers and snorkelers!

I just wanna snorkel so I can play around with the camera before i go on any dives and just thought it be nice to have scenery.

Birdman77,

Ocean Pointe Suites is a nice place sitting right on the ocean, so getting a sunrise picture would be a must. You can snorkel right off the shore from OP but there as mentioned the reefs start about 3 miles off shore. Having said that there is a lot of life that lives in the grass flats, which would be right off the beach at Ocean Pointe. Be on the look out for that elusive Sea Horse. They frequent our marina and the grass flats.

We are located about a 1 from Ocean Pointe Suites and do take snorklers, as well as, divers on our boats. Having two boats gives us flexibility on the number of people we place on a boats and the locations we go to.

Most of the reefs are loaded with fish here in the upper keys. As a snorkler you'd want to make sure the reef you go to is not that deep, so you can get as close to the sea life as possible.

You'll have a great time on your vacation and thanks for posting on this forum. If I can answer anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good Diving,

I've stayed there many times. Last year, most of the people that attended the SB Invade the Keys trip stayed there. It is a nice place.

Can you hunt bugs down in that area. I know that most of the area is a national wildlife sanctuary and can't take anything out of there but are there any other places that we could go. Also, if we can what kind of license would we need and where could we get it?

We have stayed there many times. Great family atmosphere! We always dive with Quiescience (6 pack) or Ocean Divers (large boat). Both can be very good. Ocean divers is more of a cattle type boat but we have a good time with them, especially in windy conditions.

We have searched for years for decent snorkling from the shore. There are some place to get wet but don't expect much from the shore.
