Caveman, are these pictures of the Allegro Cozumel or the Allegro Playacar???

Captain CaveMan:
we didn't stay there but I've seen it. its a nice hotel
we stay at the Occidental Royal Hideaway. same people that own the hotel your staying at _ there next door from each other.
Actually, unless you have been to Cozumel, you haven't seen it. The Allegro that rje634 is asking about is in Cozumel.

Captain CaveMan:
i will have to scan them give me a day and i will email them to you.

A couple of things CaveMan...

The Allegro that the original poster is referring to is in Cozumel. You are referring to Playa del Carmen, which is 9 miles across the channel. Two totally different places.

Second, the tsunami had absolutely nothing to do with beaches washing away in this part of the world. In Janaury, we often have "nortes" which actually help the beaches on this side of the channel, and possibly wash some away on the Playa del Carmen side. I don't know about Playa del Carment for a fact, because I live over on the other side...but this is a suspicion. It's all about tides and winds and ocean activity...but not as far away as Thailand/Phuket, etc.

It didn't sound like caveman was talking about Cozumel, but I just wasn't sure. Caveman the Occidental resort seem to use the name Allegro quite often. In the Occidental chain there are 15 resort carrying the Allegro name, hence the confusion. Thanks for trying to help.

Christi, do you have any information on the Allegro Coz? As you know Peggy and I will be there on 12/3, is the resort going to be open? and if they are will it be in decent shape? Let us know, thanks...

Supposedly they are scheduled to reopen on November 15th, and I am told they have made some upgrades while in the process of rebuilding, so it should be fine.

Honestly, I don't keep up much with the southern AI resorts other than word on the street here or what's in the paper or radio. In otherwirds, I don't have any inside connections to know much more than that.

Thanks Christi, Should you hear anything please pass it along.
Peggy and I are looking forward to diving with you.
