I'm sure this falls under "research" but does anybody know where to go when your looking for blueprints or floor plans of a wreck. I'm trying to get the plans for the Tug Sheridan in the Gulf of Mexico near Tampa, Florida for a future penetration dive and I don't have a clue as to where to start looking for those.

Thanks.

Generally, the ship yard that built it (or a ship yard that bought them out) will probably still have plans availabe for the "class" of vessel built. Many of these plans can also be found in the National Archive because they were appoved by Federal agencies (Coast Guard, Navy, ICC, etc.).

A bunch of books cover how to get this stuff. Click here and here for two sources.

Email them on the process to obtain plans. Don't expect to get the plans overnight. It takes a while.

Several of us on TDS chipped in and got plans to the Spiegal Grove and the Oriskany this year. The plans are at the National Archives. You'll need to get a printing company to request them and shrink them down in size. They'll scan them and put them on a CD or DVD for you. It runs about $400 for the process.
