If done right, even the o-ring can usually be saved.

Disturbed o-rings that have been exposed to pressure should be discarded if ANY new replacemttnts are available. This is a basic rule of thumb for ANY life suppport or hazardous material handling equipment!

The rule on removing rings is to ALWAYS protect the gland at the expense of the seal ring. Rings are cheap, new regs due to pick damaged seal glands are not!

A small tie-wrap tab can often be worked under a ring to lift a particularly reluctant ring out of the groove. Two thumbs will remove almost all OD mounted and larger face mounted rings, and a toothpick will get most internally mounted ones.

Other than that Parker makes an inexpensive set of picks designed especially for working with seals. I believe National Seals markets a similar product. Check your local seal supply house for details.

Is there a easy source for the Parker o-ring tools *other* than PeterBuilt?
