Met up with Max, Nate, and Kelly at the Shores Boat Landing. We loaded our gear on the boat and motored out to the P38. After a few false starts, Kelly positioned us over the wreck. We got our gear ready and jumped into the ocean. We dropped down to 135 feet, following the anchorline which Kelly had moved next to the P38. We hit the plane and checked out the huge Vermillion Rockfish, large Barred Sand Bass, Sargo, Blacksmith, and more. During the last few minutes of our bottom time Roy shot a bag from 135 feet. We then headed up the anchorline and did multiple stops and different depths. By the time we got up to 30 feet all of our deco time was eliminated and just our 3 minute stop remained. We finished our time, got back on the boat, and returned to the boat landing for our second tank.

After getting our 2nd tanks we headed to Scripps Canyon. We got our gear on, and gathered around the canon bouy. Kelly again dove solo the rest buddied up. We dropped down and cruised the overhangs, ledges, and walls of the Scripps canyon. We hit the bottom at 118 feet and continued on watching the bottom fall away as we headed westward. Not too long later we headed back up due to bottom time restrictions. We continued onto 80 feet at the top of the canyon. We saw the line and continued up doing our deco and safefy stops for about 10 minutes. Visibilty was not so great, but the canyon was fascinating.

On the P38 I shot some video out of my camera, but I did take some shots in the Canyon.

Simon, Paul, and I opted for a shore dive after the cancellation of the Coronados boat trip. The surf was maybe 1-3 feet. We kicked out through the surf, fighting the northern swell out to the dive spot. We dropped down into 65 feet and decended to 95 feet and found the North/East wall junction. We headed up to 70 feet and we swam long the wall revealing mounds of structure, growing into a wall as we headed west. We proceeded to explore finding many Blacksmith, red Shrimp, 3 octopus, several Brown Rockfish, a few juvinile and initial phase California Sheephead and some Blue Banded, Zebra Gobys and tens of Black-Eyed Gobies.a 3 foot California Halibut, a few Copper Rockfish and more! We elected not to do a second dive.

Comments: HBDiveGirl and myself braved it out into the cold night....in search of "squidporn". The signs were promising, as we kicked...and kicked...and kicked our way out, there were hundreds of sea gulls circling us and the seas...so we kept our mouths closed and kicked...and kicked our way out. When we dropped, we dropped at about 65' and saw a baby horn shark, which fit into our palm....ahhhh, very cute. We saw a good size Pacific Electric Torpedo Ray, which came right at us....why? Because he could. Saw lots of squid eggs, but only one squid...:( So, we must try again, in search of "squidporn."

A few years ago someone released a bunch of Maine lobsters near Angel's Gate light. I wonder how much harm, if any they do to the local population.
