I need to replace a BC and I think black is a dangerous color. I want to be in something bright if I find my self " lost at sea ". You don't see black PFDs in the boat stores. My life is more important than some dive shops inventory control. Do you know of any thing that is " NOT BLACK " !!??

I have seen a couple different blue BC's and once I saw a hot pink BC but almost all are Black with some sort of reflective striping or accent colors.

Get a safety sausage and, if you are real paranoid, get a personal EPERB and carry it with you in a vaccuum sealed bag.

Another creative option would be to make a HELP float, but that could get combersome to carry with you on a dive.

Relying on a colored BC to help if you are lost at sea is not wise.

A BC will not be exposed enough above the surface of the water to provide much in the way of a visual safety beacon. Best bet as has already been mentioned is to get a safety sausage (orange dive alert marker... and make sure it has reflective tape on it.)

You can also carry a CD in your pocket to use as a signal mirror.

I suggest "Scuba Tunes".

what about a nice bright red diver down flag ,as well as a safety sausage, dye markers, signal mirrors ,signal horn, ect ect, most of your bcd will be submerged anyway and it will be very difficult for the coast guard ,to look for someone lost in the ocean just, wearing a bright bcd.some of the new models are black but have reflectors on it.peace
