Got a call from the Peace boat -- cancelled for tomorrow yet again. Clearly the gods don't want me out diving. Maybe they know something I don't?

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

The weather up here in Sf is going to get really nasty tonight. Perhaps it has something to do with that. Although I seem to recall the Peace has a policy that they will go out 10 divers - or perhaps that was another boat out of ventura. Anyhow, sorry to hear that you can't go out.

Okay, the weather is getting stupid again. :shakehead And its going to rain tomorrow and Friday which will probably spoil my dive on Saturday...

I don't think it was lack of divers. They said that there are supposed to be really high winds again tomorrow. I don't know...at this point it's starting to seem like there's a conspiracy to keep me dry. Yeah, and then there's that grassy knoll...

Methinks I need some cheese to go along with my whine.

I was going to start a new thread "Who'll stop the winds?" but thought I'd just insert my sentiments in this one since it is related. Sure, this is the time of year when the winds may kick up... but do they have to do it every few days. Even when it is calm enough for the boat to go out, the vis is shot to purgatory (or worse). At least there's less video to edit at the end of the day.

It's all related to the winds ! Another local NW system filled in today with some pretty strong gusts ... 30+ kts.

If you look at the real time data on the CDIP buoys, you'll see the short period wind swell that's been kicked up from the system. According to the Dana Point buoy (CDIP ID #096), the latest published reading shows, 6.04ft, @ 5.88sec, from 280 Deg.

The winds aren't supposed to substantially die down till after midnight. Probably not enough time for it to clean up.

Thanks for explaining. I suppose it feels a little bit better to know that I'm AGAIN missing out on a day of diving due to a valid reason. Not that I would question Cap'n Eric's decision. I'm just....so heartbroken! WAAAH! :crying:

This is my first year diving...I only got certified in August. Is this common for this time of year? I was getting so used to diving a couple times a week, and now I'm having to deal with this whole paradigm shift.

I can't comment on the normalacy of the wind, but man - diving a couple of times a week, you need to have a little whine, and only a little bit o' cheese :) Here hoping that you get out there soon! :)

The waves according to Chuck Triblet's site shows it is safe to dive so I'm sure you'll have a good time tomorrow. There is also Friday, Saturday and Sunday too. :)
