Normoxic trimix (nitrix) for 100 foot dives

How many of you are switching over or thinking about switching over to diving a normoxic trimix or "nitrix" for your dives in the 100 to 150 foot range? I've been doing it for a long time and feel so much better after the dives, but was wondering if diving this way is starting to catch on in the diving community? I believe it will be the way of the future as long as helium is still around and is affordable.

I've been diving Trimix for nearly a year now but mostly for dives deeper then 130 feet. I've used it for a few recreational dives in the 100 to 130 foot range but it's just to expensive to use it on all deeper recreational dives and I don't feel that I personally need it for rec diving. If helium were cheaper I'd use it like Nitrox because it is nice to dive without narcoses.

I would tend to agree wit Padipro.

Personally I do not dive below 100 ft without doubles. I’ll use air or nitrox in my doubles on recreational dives within NDL's that aren't task loaded and no deeper then 120 feet. I definitely use mix for any deco dive below 120 ft, or any dive between 100 and 120ft that is task loaded (i.e. penetration, etc.),

As a rule of thumb I tend to try and keep my END less then 100 feet.

Every single study made has proven some level of mental impairment below 60 ft;
much higher, of course, at 100-150 ft...whether we accept it or not. It's
mainly a matter of to what point does it present a danger to my dive. At any
depth beyond 100 ft, I go on mix.

It is not only whether my safety is involved, but as an instructor, taking
care of others in the water (even on recreational dives), it would be foolish
and legally unacceptable to be impaired at the time when a student's life
could be in danger. A simple oversight, like monitor of gauges (a very typical
symptom of narcosis) could spell disaster to an instructor or anyone else.

Almost all of my dives past 100 are normoxic trimix now.... I've made some exceptions by bending the 100ft a bit, but for the most part (especially cold water) where I want to see/remember detail, I do mix.

In an ideal world i would. In reality i cant afford the massively increased cost for every single dive to justify it.

I cant ever see it being massively popular for those sort of depths while helium remains so expensive. Typically increasing the cost per dive by a factor of 5-6 times. Given that helium costs are rising and set to continue so i can see most deeper diving being CCR in a few years time. Advantages arent just gas cost, its the ideal mix and so on in addition to to it.

I don't care to dive much below 100 ft without helium. It is extra cost but I've done it enough that I don't mind passing on a dive if I can't do it the way I like.

In my recent IANTD Rec Trimix class I got 32/17 fills in a steel 95 for about $16. An 80 CF cylinder would probably run a couple $ less than that.
