Hey there, glad you found our forum. If you need info on the local quarries let me know.

Howdy

Welcome to the "Board". Lot of opportunities to dive locally that you may or may not know about. One dive shop is run by Joe Darling at Dive Quarters in Viginia beach Diving Lessons Virginia Beach | Scuba Lessons Virginia Beach | Learn Scuba | PADI Diving Classes. And another great ship is run by the the folks at Lynnhaven Dive Center (also Virginia Beach). They run a SSI shop and have a great reputation http://www.ldc.com so they may be an option as well.

There are a number of dive shops in Richmond as well...and all the shops seem to take full advantage of Lake Rawlings' facilities.

That's one of the quaries that DivingPrincess is probably thinking about...Lake Rawlings. Absolutely great for training.

Good luck

Lets see 2 1/2 hours to the quarry or 1/2 hour to the coast from Norfolk. Hmmm.
Not much of a decision. LOL
If your up for some local ocean diving post here & we will try to make it a reality.

Hey Rad & Pook,

You know of any boats running this time of year? I know Joe and Matt go out with their buds, but I haven't heard of anything else.

lynhaven's boat goes out every weekend, weather permitting

Duckster,

I didn't know that! I didn't see a 2008 schedule on their website so I figured they weren't running. Have you gone out recently? If so, where and how were the conditions?

They don't have a schedule up & weather is the determining factor. We tried to go last Saturday, but it got called at the dock. Unfortunately this weekend isn't looking too much better.
Next Sunday the 27th they are going to try & hit the Morgan as part of their Tech weekend, looking for experienced cold water divers, but from my experience with them if they need divers that can be overlooked.
I will not be able to make the dive as I am going to Texas to visit my Mom from the 23rd to the 27th. Meaning I will miss the VB Tech day at Lynnhaven on the 26th. It will be worth the trip there to see & touch all things Tech.
Hey Doug how did the Cave trip go?

Welcome. I will be of no help in regards to local diving as I have yet to venture in local waters :lotsalove:

Hi DivePrincessE, we're pratically next door neighbors :D
One of these days, I'm going to have to get out and meet some of the local divers.
