Hi all, I'm trying to figure out some economical drysuit undergarments for use with a recently purchased used DUI CF200 drysuit. I dive in Southern California, which typically has water temps of 50-58F at depth. I'm a bit confused about how much I need to wear underneath the drysuit. I was thinking of wearing a thin smartwool base layer that's typically used for exercise and then a 250g or 320g merino wool layer on top of it such as the following:

Would this work well? Would I need any additional layers, or should this suffice? I have pretty good resistance to cold compared to most people.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Merino is a great base layer, but it doesnt have the loft that you'll want to keep you warm. You can buy undergarments from Europe cheaper than they're available in the USA, or look for thinsulate coverall liners from the snowmobile, industrial, or military surplus worlds.
