Real coffee lovers are always looking for new ways to enjoy the magic.

Your special favorite coffee sounds like a wonderful gift with a touch of exoticism for the masses huddled safely within the Starbucks playpen.

Personalized brewing instructions from you would ensure that your fortunate friends would get to try it at its best.

Great idea!

May you enjoy a wonderful trip with deliciously aromatic memories.

Of course, more discerning drinkers go to Peet's ;)

Well heck. I LOVE coffee, but I've never even heard of Peet's. I guess living down here in the Southern Southern wilderness has its drawbacks other than a long haul to the Peace. Peet's website has a pretty cool store locator though. Looks like there's one in La Jolla. Right near La Jolla Shores. Where I dive sometimes. :D.

BTW, ever since I was in Europe two years ago I started making my own espresso using various fine grinds from Starbucks. I haven't looked back at filtered coffee since!

Trust the Wise and Sagacious Rodent King to sniff out the good stuff. Peet's near the Shores??? I may have to come dive LJS more often, now :D . I've heard some L.A. nutcases have actually driven down there for a midweek night dive. Loonies...:eyebrow:

So, the WetRat pulls espressos at home with freshly ground beans... I knew there were even more wonderful attributes to this fellow than were apparent on first glance! We must talk more.... :D The coffee situation on local dive boats needs drastic improvement.

Try Seattle's Best - Tazza de Oro for a good bean. It's way better than Starstrucks.

I like using a La Pavoni espresso machine at home. Manual pump of course.

I've had a very nice Rancilio Silvia expresso machine at home for the last few years and I've made literally thousands of expresso shots from it. Wife and I bought it thinking we'd save money by not going to Starbucks so much. Now, we spend even more at Starbucks (and still use the expresso machine every day as well). And I wonder why I can't get to sleep at night :D

Starbuck's, no. Peet's, yes. Trader Joe's in a pinch.

I believe Turkish and Armenian coffees use a finer grind than what scubavilli was describing. Had some Greek coffee last night, and I could swear that the grind was finer than espresso.

Either way...bring a variety...if new equipment is needed, it just allows the reciepient to become that much more of a coffee snob! :D

Any time my dear! I'll buy the caffeine. And of course, I've never been to Vet's Park, so I may have to come up there first! A nice refreshing summer night dive followed by Latte at Peet's could be just what the doctor... er, OR nurse, ordered!! :coffee:

Thank you for the invitation, John! Let's do calendars.... Thursdays and Saturdays are my favorite nights for diving. (Actually, all nights are my favorite nights for diving, but these two require the least amount of earth-moving to accomplish and recover from :D ) I'll send a PM now that most glorious summer is upon us.

See! The inspiration of caffeine that moved Scubavili to start this thread will now spread it's creative powers and make more diving happen amongst friends far away.
(How's that for justifying a thread hijack?!?)

Coffee. It's just a better beverage.

Can't wait! I can feel that gourmet blend of nitrogen and caffeine coursing through my veins already! :D
