When you see someone post something you disagree with, speak up!

We can argue the point and even if we never come to an agreement (we likely won´t), maybe we´ve opened some minds to the existence of a second POV. We discuss gas management, buddy diving, gear and protocols endlessly on this board. Talking about it gives others a view of the "options" that are out there and the rationale for them.

The hardest thing is to "know what you don´t know". I believe this board is a great resource to combat ignorance. It woldn´t be what it is without the passion of those who participate. Some people are explicit in their displays of passion and others aren´t. I assume that anyone who´s taken the time to post has at least something invested in the topic, otherwise why post at all? Some people have the ability to make you smile while making their point and others don´t but I wouldn´t let that determine what I make my own truth...

Just remember to disagree with the content of whatever was posted ... and NOT the perceived shortcomings or motives of the person you're disagreeing with.

I think this is where the OP is coming from ... it's not that difficult to disagree with someone without bashing, and it's a whole lot more constructive to discuss ideas than personalities ...

Well this thread has certainly been worth the read. Maybe, just maybe, my perception of certain members has been a "hair off center". Perhaps, they are not pompass windbags and ************s, just passionate.

I need to work on my tolerance and understanding.;)

While I certainly agree with you, I also agree with Mo2vation, this is the internet and TBH I´m not overly concerned with what strangers think about me. If it´s something I post once or two times that rubs someone the wrong way their perception will (hopefully) change over time. If it´s something in the way I express myself that consistently annoys someone and stops them from getting my point, then so be it.

I think we all have things to improve in our delivery and like I said, I don´t disagree with you but not "liking" someone won´t keep me from recognizing relevant points of view...I´ve learned plenty from people I don´t really "like", if you only limit yourself to those you like, chances are that you´ll miss out...

as always ymmv
