Rick Murchison:
AFAIK they're in the process of moving their machinery to a new plant. Have to interrupt production to do it.

StSomewhere:
just did) you can do it yourself if absolutely necessary.

Renewing DOT tank exemptions

We just had this talk at 3 LDS stores local
2 said no DOT no gas! other one said if other shops fill on exempt form and all is good with the DOT gods they would most likely fill I just dont like that last part!
and all the paper you get off the web is not going to get you a fill-or a yearly vis tag! they may do things at other shops with slips of paper-could be,
but I will not take that chance-!
my $300 is on Worthington

StSomewhere:
Anyone know why the Worthington's are 1.5 lbs more negatively buoyant? And if that weight is evenly distributed or if its more to one end or the other of the tank?

It's in the bottom.

I just e-mailed PST so they can respond to this. Scuba tanks are a SMALL part of what these people manufacture. As they re-tool their entire factory, it is a bit myopic to think that they will concentrate on the small part of their market FIRST.

I have no doubts that they will come back and recover from all of the bad publicity. I love their tanks and dive them almost exclusively.

Hey NetDoc:
Have you ever been to the PST facility? What in the world makes you think that scuba is a SMALL part of what PST manufactures? What other products do you think they make at the West Allis factory? Do you think they still have the automotive CNG business from 10+ years ago? That business is long gone. Besides scuba they make a few aviation oxygen cylinders. That's it. Scuba is by far the majority of what they manufacture (which is very sad).

You may be love with them and dive them exclusively though that does nothing to change the future.

PST's time is growing short, very short.

I live in Wisconsin and know PST was to move but still have not moved to the new location, a bit of home work shows that they were banking on a big loan from local city admin, and this move to the old A.O. plant has not been a done deal!!

They came out with a bang with the new HP's and I think=[my 2 cents] they are on the verge of going out with a big BANG!! =MY 2 CENTS!

Brad

The Milwaukee Journal hasn't had an article about them since Nov 2005...where is your information coming from???

Paul in VT

It is an interesting update.... As you may know, we can see some PST inventory (119 and 130) on the net. It might be their last batch though....
