I heard that there are no more sea horses left in Cozumel after the last year hurican!!!
is that true??

Nope seen one just a month ago.

No. There are plenty, especially the dried out kind up on the sand.

Seriously, even if a great many of those in shallow water were killed, there would still be lots more. Their numbers are continuously replenished by the huge numbers of tiny planktonic seahorses that settle out whever the Gulf's currents carry them. Like most oceanic fishes, seahorses spend the first couple of weeks of their lives drifting with the currents, eating and being eaten as part of the vast rich plankton soup. Distributional patterns of most fishes in the open seas reflect water movements more than actual birth locations. This assures wide distribution and prevents localized wipeouts. It also helps species expand their ranges to every area able to support them.

Not true at all. This picture was taken by SB member "Sue Sue" last week.

Saw one (but only one) there three days ago, June 10, 2006.

By the way...we had a GREAT time!

The photo Christi posted looks just like the one I saw on 5/28.
