It's not an entry zipper. It's a wizz zipper So you don't have to get out of the suit on the surface to take a wizz. :D

The old Unisuit had the crotch entry/exit and that sucked. About the third time I got a crotch rash I decided they sucked real bad. But that was what we had and it was state of the at the time.

Why don't you put it back on Ebay as 'Rare Good Condition Vintage Diving Equipment - Antique - Worth it's weight in Gold - A11+++++++++' (btw, I hate ebay)...
 
The suit (if material and zippers are intact) may work fine. I'd replace the oral inflator with a power inflator and install either a shoulder or wrist valve (whichever you like). None of these modifications are difficult.
