He posted to that.I think the first input is actually a question - WHY are you getting your nitrox cert?
The question you ask tells me you don't know why, therrefore I have to wonder why you are wanting it?

He's in Virginia. Great wreck diving just down the coast: deeper, square bottom dives.
And it's a good tool for any diver. Sometimes the whole boat has to alter plans to compensate for those without Nitrox cards.
Lol, that's not how science works!
Uh, I was not in charge....:w-t-f: Good Lord, why would that be?
Just tell the air guys to enjoy their short dive and enjoy their wait for the others! You have some weird ops in your neck of the woods.![]()
Yeah, it's lame, but happens. Why would anyone except the guys buddy alter its plan for an air diver? Makes no sense.

Actually that's exactly how scientific method works. You put forward a theory (ie nitrox reduces fatigue) then supply evidence to back that up. The evidence is hen scrutinised. Unless that happens the status quo (no effect) remains.
So off you go for a double-blind trial along with developing quantitative and reliable methods for measuring fatigue, developing controls and so on.
And where is the study that backs up your claim that it's a placebo effect? Surely with all your knowledge of the scientific method you realize that your statement was invalid and idiotic.

Well you have a shallower maximum depth. Your NDL for a certain depth range is increased vs air. It often costs 2-3x that of an air fill.
If you're ending dives because you're running up to a NDL as opposed to a time or air limit then nitrox is useful. If you're not ending dives due to NDL limits it won't be.
For open water level dives that are 18m max its almost certainly air consumption not NDL limiting the dives.
and your referenced source to back this claim up is where exactly?
Otherwise i could quite happily state "I have pink fairies living at the bottom of my garden that only i can see and talk to" and pass it off as true unless you can prove otherwise.
