Well, got the Nitrox done. Now to find a place that I can go get benefits from it. The water is too cold to really get more than 2 dives in at depth around here so I am biding my time until Tropical is more available. Unless I get my Dives in for Drysuit. :D

Drysuit would seem more sensible. They you could dive as often as you want locally without having to wait for and only dive on trips.

Well, make sure you rent a large volume tank so you can get you max bottom time.

Yeah. I have to get the dives in, I have my KRs and everything done. Gotta find an an Instructor with Drysuit specialty Instructor to take me on the dives. Then I can actually rent a drysuit.

Hmm that reminds me.

I need to issue myself my own bsac cert so i could rent a drysuit if i go abroad.
Bizzare that i need to actually issue a certification for myself so i can get a drysuit.

Bizzare is right..
Do most dive ops require a drysuit cert card to allow you to rent one? What if you bring your own?
S.

In the UK they appear to ask for a cert.

(I know of one advanced trimix instructor who tore his suit, checked it into the inland site he was at for repair, asked to rent one for the day due to that (same site) and was refused as he didnt have a cert).

Abroad it appears you need a cert to rent one.

If you bring your own theres no problem - no operator is ever going to prevent you from using your own piece of equipment no matter what it is.

My main/first agency doesnt have drysuit course as such, its integrated into the main if used. The result is you dont get a drysuit qualification. However it DOES have a cross over cert for those who came from another agency etc. So im in the position that having dived from dive 1 in a drysuit and being able to instruct on one i wont be able to rent one abroad or in the UK if either of mine break. The result is im going to have to certify myself on the cross over speciality to get a card to get a suit. Madness but thats how silly rules apply these days.

yeah, the only way I will get into a Drysuit is to borrow from a friend (none of my diving friends have a drysuit) well, friends I know well enough to borrow from. and the LDSs will not rent me one.

Surely if doing the course a shop will loan a suit for a nominal fee?
