I’ve been reading a number of threads on if the dives are worthwhile or not. It seems that the “not necessary” camp has more supporters. I guess if you receive quality instruction and demonstrate that you can apply what you’ve learned, the dives wouldn’t be need.

This is kind of why I wanted to ask for recommendations for a good shop.

If you go through a PADI course, dives are optional. I don't know if the other agencies make the dives optional or not. Adventure sports is a NAUI shop, but I seem to remember Bert talking about his PADI Instructor days, so he may do the PADI system as well.

I normally recommend Calypso divers for everything, but when it comes to tech stuff, and I consider nitrox to be lite tech, I would recomend Tampa Adventure Sports

So are you going to order one of those patches I gave you?

NAUI has two options. 1. Nitrox Program - no dives required. 2. Nitrox Diver - 2 divers required.

1st option card says "Nitrox". 2nd option card says "Nitrox Diver"

Ask the instructor what they do.

I was wondering if they still did that. Are the colors on the Nitrox card still reversed.

Man, and they say PADI is always looking for a buck.:D
