I did my final basic O/W cert dives over the weekend and really enjoyed them - A total of five dives over two days, max depth was 45 ft. However, I really feel beat today - almost like a hangover, but did not have a drop(alcoholic)to drink all weekend. We followed the Naui dive tables very closely - adequate SITs, never even approached the No Deco Limits, etc. Several diving aquaintences have chuckled and said get to use to it unless I want to get certified in mixed gases. Is this characteristic of diving on compressed air? And if so, what is the cause of it. Are mixed gases the answer?

BTW - I'm physically fit and feel fine otherwise.

Thanks

to start: i am not a Doctor.

you do not specify what symptoms: headache, nauseau, etc
you have that are similar to hangover. If you are simply
"beat" I would suggest it is likely physical exhaustion
more than 'notrogen hangover'.

I am also physically fit: run, swim, weights several times
per week but it is not unusual for me to feel "drained" after a particularly strenuous day of diving (especially if
I am diving from a boat in rough seas)

Most people try drinking to get the real thing. It certainly is cheaper than a 5 dive weekend.heheh.
I agree with Greenman.Depending on many variables such as cold, current, depth and your own metabolism you can easily find yourself tired. Many people are lucky to get 5 dives in a year, let alone 2 days.I'm ready for bed after 3 dives. You get alot of pressure on the body and your body lets you know.I did 2 dives in the Korean Eastern sea yesterday. The temp was 10 degrees C and combined with 5 hours travel and dinner in the city I went home and slept for 9 hours and woke up tired.Listen to your body and rest, hydrate with water which may combat any dehydration and that happens even without alcohol.I'm sure it was a great time.I find that nothing tires me out like diving.
Stay safe, stay smart and stay in the water.
Cheers ears,
The Gasman
