Thats a common problem.. The design is not that great.. Your problem most likely is that the interface is not making good contact with the computer.. I have had a nitek 3 for years.. sometimes I can get it on the first shot othertimes it seems to take forever... make sure the spring contacts are fully extended and watch that they make good contact with the computer contacts.
