Took my Nikonos V in for an annual service and following that, it flooded. Complained to the shop and instead of helping, they tacked even more costs, and things got worse before better. (long story! started with leak in the viewfinder which they had reinstalled)
Have binders of great slides since I first started shooting with it in 1985, and all the related gear (dual flashes, 20mm lens, etc) so really dont want to give it up (rather digitize the slides). Still have a freezer full of Velvia.
Did pay the 'ransom" and get it back working, but have no trust level with these guys. Since the local shop with excellent reputation started outsourcing Nikonos a few years ago, the quality of Nikonos service has definitely taken a nosedive.
Question: Does anyone service their Nikonos at a really GREAT shop? (in the U.S.)
Info apperciated.
Thx.

Southern Nikonos in Houston.

Ditto, Bob at Southern Nikonos.

Also, get DAN H20 Equipment insurance and you'll never have another problem you can't handle.

My buddy flooded his Nik5 and 15mm a couple years ago, his fault. Bob fixed it and it's back in perfect working order. DAN paid promptly.
