Anybody heard any news on the missing diver off of Ocracoke. I just saw on the news that a diver that was diving with a group of ten divers has been missing since 11 Am today. There was not much more info on the 6 o clock news. Did not say what boat they were on or where they were diving. Did say it was a beginning diver though.

We heard some of the CG message traffic while we were out of MHC but couldn't make out many details. It was initally reported as a private vessel then a charter but I'm not sure at this point. According to the news, no one saw him surface so I'm really curious as to how they determined he had "45 minutes of o2 left". Let's hope for the best in the rescue efforts.

Anybody know the boat name and/or responding CG unit?

Accident reports list the boat as the M/V Akyla which I believe runs out of Dive Hatteras. CG aerial searches from Eliz City as well as the USMC PEDRO helicoptor responded with the CG boats out of Hatteras. As of this morning, the search continues.

Not sure what wreck they were on but according to the accident report, the diver failed to surface from a 90' dive off Okracoke.

You can find more info on it here.
My heart and prayers go out to everyone involved.
