I think the Review Policy of Special Activity Permits Involving the Take of Coral and Live Rock is what has HIMB in an uproar. That would mean their coral biologists and geneticists would be basically screwed, in spite of the availability of the natural resources that surround us. The guy who used to defend and speak out for HIMB in DAR was recently fired and walked out of the building under security. This is a huge issue right now in the UH zoology department. With current budget cuts facing the University, is it really wise to decrease the income from coral biology related grants as well?
