I won't be hiring a scooter ! I read an article on patong and it said that terrorists might be targeting there. ... but the report was 2002 not long before I went to sharm el shiekh and they said the same thing there. So I'm not worried to much. One thing is my flight number, good job i am not suspicious, it's 911 ! Still I gonna try and can get an upgrade! What's the weather like at the moment. I have looked on a web cam and it's cloudy. I thought this month would be sunny. Is it unusual for this time of year?

It is sad to hear about these vicious attacks around the world even for a pleasure seeker like us. In a degree of reciprocation, I am pretty positive that Thai government will step up with their security measures, especially in a crowded populate tourist hot spot in Phuket. but let not this constitute ruin our spirit to dive.

Any time that there is trouble people get a bit edgy but from past experience the Thai people are one of the most pleasant welcoming peoples you're ever liklely to meet - they don't call it the Land of a thousand smiles for nothing.

The nearest of those provinces affected is over 200Km away from Phuket. To put it in context, that's further than Dublin is from Belfast in Ireland. I grew up in Dublin and except for hearing about the madness in the north on the news we never had any day to day contact with it i.e. it's far enough away to put your mind at ease

Chances are that the Thai government will put extra security in place as a result of the bombings. So go have a great time, enjoy the diving, enjoy the weather and let us know how you get on. Might even be up that way myself in a couple of weeks if I can sort out my flights
