Thanks so much for the the reply. I loved Curacao but we want something we have never done. She is pushing towards French Polynesia or Dolomites, I am thinking something shorter would make more sense for obvious reasons. Will look more at Dominica.
French Polynesia was awesome, but can be expensive. I was there for 2 weeks in 2019 for our 30th Anniversary - we did Kia Ora on Rangiroa, Le Taha'a Resort off of Taha'a and The St Regis on Bora Bora. Diving in Tiputa Pass in Rangiroa was awesome. Moorea might be a great choice as it has some very nice resorts, breathtaking mountain scenery//hiking and some good diving as well.

It’s unfortunate that Kauai is off the list, as the non-diving activities there would be perfect (beaches, hiking, zip lines, rum safari, surfing, etc.). We go yearly and the diving is good, but different than the Caribbean in that there are way more turtles but the coral is just so-so.

We just went to Saba for a week and had a great time, but it was just my wife and myself and all there is to do there is diving and hiking. There is minimal nightlife and zero beaches. Doubt Saba would fit your bill given there are non-divers with you.

PS: Congrats on the marriage!

It may be on the list now. Now considering a flight to Hawaii and a cruise through the French Polynesian islands. Go a day early get married in Hawaii without having to mess w legality of a foreign nation, get some dives in and hopefully a little more for everyone. Kauai is one of the stops.

If you choose Kauai feel free to PM me for any questions. We have a place there so are familiar with many of the activities available.

Красное море есть в моем списке желаний, но каково это место для американцев?
I personally dived in charm with the American, the Chinese, the Poles, the Italians, the Germans. and also in Hurghada. Canadians also fly there.
Choose a British or German dive center.

St. Lucia might work well. Anse Chastanet seems to have a good rep. (I'm too cheap to stay there), and their website can show you some photos of St. Lucia.

I love Bonaire, but much of it's flat, much of the hilly region is shrubby with more thorns than you likely knew there were in the world, it's arid and I don't think it's what you want this time. For a place half again the size with more civilization and topside attractions, and some of the same benefits, take a look at Curacao. That said, it's arid, and while it has some mountainous area from what I understand, if you stay 'near the action' in Willemstad, you won't be gazing at a mountain range from your hotel room. But Curacao rocks. Edit: I see from his profile the original poster has been there.

Curacao Trip Report with SB Surge Jan. 2019

Raja Ampat 10-Night Indo-Siren Liveaboard Dec. 2 – 12, 2022 Trip Report - Trip Report - Raja Ampat 10-Night Indo-Siren Liveaboard Dec. 2 – 12, 2022 Trip Report

I know you're not in the market for a liveaboard, but it was my one trip to the region, and I tried to infuse the report with the info. a fellow 1st timer would need.

Look, the plane travel can be brutally long, and if the word 'budget' is in your vocabulary upgrading to first class may not be in your wallet. Unless these 4 kids in particular are well-traveling and accustomed to flights, I'd think long and hard before going with this.

Those do come to mind; I haven't visited either. Of the 2, from what I recall reading, Saba is rather 'quiet' topside. 6 People looking for good times without a strong diving focus might find it a bit sleepy.Per Travel+Leisure:
"Saba doesn’t have large resorts, casinos, fast-food franchises, or duty-free shopping malls. And there are no concrete high-rises on this island that bills itself as the "Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean." Instead, charming, white, wooden cottages with forest-green shutters and red-tin roofs punctuate the island’s hills. Saba is also a Caribbean anomaly, the tip of a now-dormant underwater volcano with no beaches except for the tiny black-sand "disappearing beach" at Well's Bay, seen only from June through October. So, a stay here isn’t for your everyday sun- and sand-seeking visitor. Instead, Saba attracts adventurous travelers (about 9,000 a year in pre-pandemic years), who come mostly to hike, dive, or simply relax."

Dominica is much larger than Saba. It's also poor, from what I recall, with a rep. for scenic tropical rainforest hiking but I recall it being said to be a poor (economically) island. I don't know how it would be for 2 honeymooners and 4 kids (1 a non-diver)? Perhaps ask @agilis

St. Lucia is mountainous, has some nice rainforest hiking, has Sandals Resorts (not an option with children, but gives you some idea the crowd St. Lucia draws, plus it's a cruise port), and has nice diving.

Puerto Rico might have something to offer. From what I recall of El Yunque Rainforest, it looked to be. Some quick Googling suggests it has mountains.

St. Croix might work.
St. Croix Research Report Aug. 2017 - Trip Report - St. Croix Research Report Aug. 2017 Since I was there, a hurricane came through and which dive shop operates where has changed (I also heard they got a zip line operator), but the broad strokes overview should be much the same.

Disclaimer: I don't know just how big or numerous the 'mountains' must be. 'Mountainous' Caribbean may not impress someone from Montana.
+1 for St Lucia. Wonderful island and very kind people. Diving is great, too.

Looking for suggestions. My fiancé has 2 kids oldest son doesn’t dive but her daughter and both my kids dive. Also have some friends that dive but we are kind of thinking elope and just have a badass vacation for the kids. I have always wanted to go to Bonaire and thought about going there. Also considering Thailand, Indonesia, French Polynesia. She wants mountains doesn’t want to make it about diving. I want beach and think the kids will have more enjoyment and memories while diving. Coming from Dallas probably do a two week trip. We got engaged in Ireland so also considering there or Italy. I don’t mind spending a lot to get there but would prefer to go somewhere that I can not be too concerned about how much I am spending taking 6 people, I want to keep it under what a normal wedding would cost me!! Any suggestions are welcome. Bonaire is appealing, closer flight, shore diving will be easier to plan dives certainly if others come. Maybe an Airbnb on a reef would be good. Indonesia has some fantastic ones but know nothing about the country.
Roatan has tons of hiking, but not mountains necessarily. Lot's of activities there though, so non-divers might have a great time!

Belize. Go dive on Ambergris Caye, get married on the beach, dive, and stay at Ramons Dive Resort. The non diver can snorkel with manatees and snorkel Shark Ray Alley. Then go to Calico Jacks Resort inland. Its one of the very few Belize owned resorts. They cook native grown food and its amazing. They have 5 caves on sight you can go in. They have the longest zip line in Belize. You can climb to the tops of the temples in Belize. You can tube in rivers, horse back ride, bird watch. There is the coolest cave ever -ATV! Look it up! You have to swim to get in and swim 4 or more times in in. There is a crystallized Mayan skeleton at the end.

Please don't plan this as only a dive trip , it is about your new family and the wife . Let her kids get certified here at home and then make that bona rue dive trip soon . Rumdumb
