Welcome to Scuba and Scubaboard...Rosewater...You might want to fill out more info in your profile.

I'll do that! Thanks.

It was good to meet you and put a face to the name. I dove the deep quarry as you know and our temps were a bit cooler, we had 44 degree's and at least one of us (not me) didn't do a second dive due to that. Our vis was about 15 feet, I hope yours was as good in the quarry you did the cert in.

Who was doing the pumpkin bit? Did you notice that or was that before you got there? All I saw when I drove by the smaller quarry was lots of cutup pumpkins.

You know, getting your reg back was good and shows that you can think under a bit of pressure. So I'd say it wasn't a huge mistake but rather a learning experience and one that you will benefit from. I.e. you now know you can retrieve your reg if for some reason you have to.

Your posting saved me from a PM asking how you liked it, I can tell it went fine. PS, don't give up diving locally, the lakes down south have a lot to offer and besides, who wants to dive where you can actually see what's in the water. What kind of fun is that? You'll probably do it in the summer however, lake temps are dropping now and soon will be what some consider cold. However diving in the Winter is when we get our best visibility.

Congrats on your certification,

I'm newly certified too. The fact that you were able to recover your own reg. demonstrates that you are comfortable in the water and not panic. You didn't shoot to the surface like most people probably would have. Keep up the good work.

It was nice meeting you too :) I'll probably be checking out the deeper quarry for my AOW. I hope to take that next year. I missed the pumpkin carving. There were a few pumpkins still laying around though.

I plan on doing most of my diving in the Mid-West. I don't get the chance to get to Florida as often as I'd like. I may attend the spring fling event that they are planning on the boards. Not sure I'd want to dive any earlier in the year then they are planning. Although, the 3 mil suit kept me warm in the quarry until I had to remove my mask. Thought my eyeballs would freeze!

I'm sure I'll see you around diving next year and maybe around the shop!

I tend to dive most weekends, especially in the Winter. During the summer I dive down south at the lakes because the shop is pretty busy with classes, however I do dive the deep quarry several times a year because it's only 2 hours away vs 4.5 to the lakes.

Have fun diving where the waters warm and you can see your buddy. PS, during the summer if you want a buddy for the quarry hollar, I'll dive with you.

Thanks! I'll take you up on that sometime!
