I'm new to the board here and just recently got my SSI OWC a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have logged a total of 4 dives and hope to add another 3 this weekend to reach my Level 2 status. Fortunately I have a few beach sites to choose from here in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area with coral reefs just a couple of hundred yards away. It makes it quite economical to dive a couple of times a week. Just a stop at my LDS to fill up my tanks.

I am currently using analog gauges on my console SPG, Depth, and Compass along with a Casio G Shock as a timing device in order to practice and gain more experience using the tables and entering info in the log.
I'm sure I'll be looking into a Dive Computer in the near future and although I'm still not sure of wether to go AI or not my question is: Do all of the dive computers recalculate your BT as your depth varies or is that a specific feature I must make sure it has before purchasing ( I may be buying one on-line).

Thanks for any responses

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is yes....as far as I know.

Keeping in mind that every dive is a decompression dive, your bottom time increases/decreases to match your new depth (i.e. your nitrogen levels being to returned to normal). There's probably a few more people around who have a much better grasp on the subject , but I hope this kinda answers your question.

That is the major selling point of a computer is it dont penalize you for a shallower depth. Most tech divers dont use computers because they cut their own tables but for a recreational diver, most open water courses teach that a computer is the best solution for multi-level diving. To my knowledge all computers calculate based on current depth.

Welcome to a fun sport. A great way to spend time and money you used to use to care for your yard... :tree:

When you shop for a computer, I strongly suggested you get a Nitrox model.:wavey: It will work as either Air or EAN, and you'll be glad later on...
