Jon, I joined Dive Club of Silicon Valley out of Diver Dan's. It's $50/year, but you get it back via air cards, nitrox card, or $75 rental coupon. It also offers discounted trips and specialty classes, I'm going to the Channel Islands for 2 nights, 3 days in July with the club on the Peace boat this summer and I'm totally looking forward to it!
They have two club dives every month, one shore and one discounted boat dive. We meet at Dan's the first and third Wednesday of each month from 7-8, then go out for Mexican food and margaritas after. I've met many great people and divers at the club. It's been a good experience all around.
