I would have never thought of a flash light and yet it makes perfect sense. Are the goodie bags the mesh ones or something else?

It's always good to have some sort of flashlight on any dive. Am easy to handle pocket size one is a good start and won't break the bank. When you are ready and move up to one of the new high power HIDs or LEDs, the smaller light you have now can become a back up. Most goodie bags are mesh, and have some way to attach to your BCD as well as a simple device to hold them closed so you don't loose anything. They are not to be confused with the mesh equipment bags. Again, your LDS should have a variety. If for some strange reason they do not, check out our site - we have several styles.

So I finally got out into the ocean this past wednesday. I think the only thing I would change is I would have taken a motion sickness pill before hand but the nice thing I found out is that as soon as I hit the water all that bad feeling went away. I ended up getting a little hand held light and a mesh goodie bag and almost got me a flounder. I tried coaxing it into my bag but turn last second, came so close. I have been putting a lot of thought into what kind of BC I would like to buy, I think I want to get into diving with doubles eventually. If anyone could suggest BCs that I can change to double tanks later on that would be extremely helpful. Thanks for all the previous help!!

Yeah, those darn flounders will do it every time - zig when they should zag. :D

If you are looking for a great twin tank set up, look for a Back Plate/Wings unit. Dive Rite, DSS, Halcyon, Hammerhead, Hollis, OMS, Oxycheq & Zeagle all make great units. Tobin from DSS is (IMHO) the undisputed Guru of the Back Plates. If for some reason you do onto want a Back Plate, you can look at Dive Rite's Trans Pac, OMS's IQ Pack, and Zeagle's Ranger/Tech models. All of the above are proven performers and will give years of service.

The above list is long and can be confusing. The advice I give everyone is to "try before you buy" Take as many different configurations in at least a pool setting along with someone who knows how to properly adjust everything (fit, d ring configuration, trim, etc.) to help you properly get set up. Then see which one not only fits you and your style of diving now, but can also cover what kind of diving you want to do in the future. Give yourself a little time, especially if you are going with a Hog/DIR BP/W set up as it can take a few dives to get everything in it's place and fitted/trimmed out properly. Trust me though, it will be time well spent.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are making out.

Safe Diving,
George
