Hi,

I just joined SB last week. Transplanted New Yorker living in Switzerland (and no, I am not planning on diving in the lake here; I like warm water and lots of viz). AOW and U/W Photo through PADI. So far have done Australia once and Bonaire twice, and will be diving with Nekton in Belize March 19-26 :D

I have recently been thinking about things like BCD maintenance, exposure bracketing with a Canon 10D in a Subal housing, reliable file storage without a laptop (with a CD burner or portable hard drive), exact water temperature in Belize in March, and dive lights. If you have thoughts on any of those, let me know...

Welcome to the Board, Angela!

I cannot help you with Belize water temps, but if you should ever reconsider on getting wet in the local lakes... Also, the Red Sea is only a 4-hour flight from Zurich, and open for business all year. I have a niece working as a DM in Dahab, if ever....

Happy diving!

Victor

Hey Angela,
BCD is easy....don't remove any valves. Run water/ fresh water into the Inflator mouthpiece by holding the deflate button open. Let the BC fill 1/4 with water. Then orally inflate the BC all the way. Shake vigorously. Drain the water by using any dump valve. Repeat until you don't taste salt. Then inflate the bc and let it sit overnight. As for the Camera a good friend of mine has a 10 d he shoots in raw mode with dual ikelite strobes but he carries a laptop with him everywhere. Hmm reliable storage...? Have you a 512 card ? or larger? Thats what he uses but at the end of the day he uses the laptop and deletes the bad ones. Exact water temp in March is a chilly 79 degrees F...although I was there a few years ago in april...and was cold Take a 3mm full. You will be doing 3 or dives per day ...I would take a beanie or thin hood of some kind as well. If it's windy you will be warmer. Have fun Hal
