We will be going up with Blue Marble Divers for a new years bash at Mt. Storm on new years day. If anyone feels adventurous we would love to have you join us. We will have a great support crew with warm drinks and food!! Hope to see everyone there!!

Corrine and I went up early to check conditions. All the roads were fine, and it was 34 degrees. But, the parking lot was terrible, 4-wheel drive only!! We called everyone, and told them it was a go. We had planned on eating at the Stained Glass, but it was closed, so we headed to the Chat & Chew. We arrived back at the lake just before the others only to discover that there were two other divers gearing up in the parking lot. It had started snowing lightly, but just a light breeze. We set up the canopy, put the walls on it, and set up the stoves for soup, chili, and hot chocalate. Everyone started to gear up, and get wet. Just as Corrine and I were getting ready a large gust blew up and picked up the canopy and deposited it on our heads. It didn't hurt us, but it knocked my tanks off of the tailgate onto the ground. Which resulted in one bent valve, and a destroyed canopy!! Still it was a great day, and a good dive. By the time we were leaving, the temp had dropped to 24 degrees, and it was snowing heavily. We had a great day, 6 of us went up, and 5 of us dove. Mary was surface support, and it was great having someone hand us hot chocalate when we had dropped our tanks. THANKS MARY!!

It was a good day to go diving with friends. Can't think of a better way to start the new year off, unless of course it was sunny and 80 degrees with 100 foot of viz. I'm going to start planning St. Thomas for next new year!!! :cool2:

I wasn't feeling well that morning, but after breakfast I started to feel better and am really glad I did the dive. Conditions in the water were much more pleasant than above water, but then again - there was hot food and hot chocolate waiting and that was a great way to end a dive with friends. Thanks to Mary for braving the elements and taking such good care of us!

What was the water temp ?? Did anyone dive with wetsuits ?? Going to Winchester soon and may have to make a side trip to the Storm !!

Water temps were 59. And yes two people dove wet. The water is no problem, it's getting out of the water that can kill you, so be careful and prepare!!
