This is a duplicate of a post I just updated, but Lake Lanier has been mentioned to me by several people, so I figured I would add my post to here as well.

I have finally made to Atlanta

Now that I have made it down and have gotten rather settled in, I am itching to go diving. I am looking for clubs, people, or just good recommend sites to check out.

Basically, I will dive where it is wet, temperature is not a concern (assuming the dives are less than 2 hours) nor is visibility, though it would be nice to have some.

I am willing to leave on Fridays and get back late Sunday nights. Weekend trips or day trips are fine. Heck, I will even go out on a charter.

I am not tech or cave certified but since I am going to be in the area until mid-March I probably will be getting my certifications for both over the next couple of months.

Feel free to check the profile, but my basics include the following;
DM - PADI
Master Diver -NAUI
Specialties - PADI - Too many to list
# of diver 300+
Generally I dive S100 dbls but keep a singles set up
Dive both dry and wet
Have dived North East (MA, CT, RI, NH, ME, VT), Mid Atlantic (NJ, MD, NC OBX wrecks), South East (GA), North West (WA, CO) South West (NV), International - Galapagos x2, Utila Honduras.

So if your willing to show a Massachusetts based Yankee, Southern hospitality, I would love to join new people to go diving.

Glad you made is "safe-n-sound". Enjoy your time down here. I would probably put some weekend trips together to hit Florida. Gas is really low now and I'm thinking about making a Florida Spring run in the coming weeks. Of course I live closer to Macon, GA (North-middle GA) so it is about an hour to hour and half less of a drive to the springs for me.

Maybe we can get a little group to meet up at Vortex and do a few dives one weekend.

Anyway,

Welcome to Atlanta, gastronomy! We're glad to have ya!

As I was looking on the map of Lake Lanier, it is huge. So where do people go to dive and are there various sites of interest worth checking out?

The best visibility is near the dam,the further up lake you go the more it drops off. There is a dive scheduled for new years day at west bank park located on Buford dam rd. Pm me if you need more info. I am ready for a springs trip also, these lower gas prices should result in more diving this year.

This weekend ended up at Diver Haven, but I will need to check out other places real soon. Literally ANY weekend while I down here I will gladly check out a location to head into the water.

Drop a message or a PM and let me know if you are up for hitting the water.

Thanks and best regards,

I was looking at trying to get this trip in Calendar the only problem is unpredictable weather this time of year.

I would like to go diving off the north carolina coast, have never been there, need to get to Pensacola to dive the oriskiny too,I am jonesing bad right now for a nitrogen fix,it has been 2 months since I have been diving, way too long.

Are you interested in the January charter? My only concern is the usual suspects I dive with won't commit because of the unpredictable weather. I would hate to drive 8 hours to find out my boat dive has been canceled...wait that happened two weeks ago in Panama City Beach...ended up diving in a freshwater spring.

I would love to join but that is the weekend I have to head to Charleston, SC for two weeks. Thanks for the posting.

If anyone is around this or next weekend for a local dive, post a note and lets get wet.

I'm always looking for a dive adventure at new places. I don't have quite the resume of Gas but I do try to get in my nitrogen fix on a regular basis. (I am a lowly NAUI advanced scuba diver with a nitrox cert.)

I don't know of too many local places to dive besides Lake Lanier or Dive Haven. This time of year means a trip to Florida or North Carolina for "warmer waters"
