If fishing in FL state waters, be sure to know which species you can/can't take with spear. For whatever reason, there are some fish that are legal to take with rod & reel, but illegal to take with a spear. Pompano comes to mind. Alabama might have similar restrictions, I don't know.

Thanks for the PDF. I plan on doing some fishing out of my boat also. I like all the info I can get.

i just started spearfishing myself in Hatteras, N.C. I bought myself a little JBL speargun and have had alot of fun with that. i have shot many sheepshead near any structure that i can find. Good luck with your new found hobby, Joe
