yeah, what fits and feels comfortable is definitely the key here. Also, keep in mind that your taste in scuba gear will evolve over time. Buy what works now and change gear or reconfigure later when you figure out any specialized gear that you may require. Don't worry about getting the perfect gear just yet, you'll nail down excatly what your equipment needs are as you dive more.

I agree with Danny. As long as it is safe, I wouldn't be too worried about your gear. While the stuff isn't cheap, it isn't so expensive (at least for me) that I expect to be diving with my first gear the rest of my life. I certainly don't snow ski with the same gear I started out with.

You gear will adapt with your experience, and knowledge of your likes and dislikes.

When it comes to gear, keep it simple and choose gear that will hold up. Think about how much and what type of diving you will be doing then buy what will work for you. If I knew then what I know now, is what you want to avoid. I am in the process of completely changing over my gear. I just started diving in Jan. so I was definitely taken by my LDS. There is a lot of gear I no longer use, especially a snorkel! Just did my first ocean dives and left it on the boat. I am switching to a BP/W next month, but it all is up to what feels good for you! GOOD LUCK!

I'm new too, but I will have to say call Scubatoys. I called them yesterday with a bunch of questions (newbie, stupid questions-and lots of 'em). Within 10 minutes, he had me set up and ready to rock for under $500 shipped (rebel package with mares airlab). I got an email later that evening with the tracking number, the gear was set-up, tested and shipped within a couple hours. Amazing if you ask me.
Good luck,
Tim

Thanks ucrtwf for the kind words!

For your mask snorkel fin package, I'd say the Zoom pack we have is the top seller, both for us on line, and in the store. I know in the drop down for bootie sizing, it only goes to 13... just give us a call, we have 14's.. even 15's in stock and we'll just substitute those in for you. And the XL Zoom fins will fit fine in that size. So whether you get them from us or not... I'd say look at the Zoom fins in XL. Joe wears 15 and wears those - no problem.
