Question New to Peregrine...is the only ascent rate display the colored chevrons [each 3m/min]?

What about battery percentage? I could not find settings to show that, only an icon?
Does the Periguine not show the battery voltage?

Perdix, Nerd, Petrel all do and it must be checked as part of the pre-dive config.

In the sub-menus from Setup, if you need an actual voltage:
Setup | Advanced Config | Battery Info

Useful for batteries with a more linear decay curve; SAFT, not so much.

While the theory discussion is interesting, reality gets in the way. Using bars smooths out the combined frustration of instantaneous rate display, and the slight delay before it gives you a number. I had hoped Shearwater would give a rate number over a slightly longer rolling measurement window. But alas, with the numerical display, I'm looking at the last little blip in my ascent rate that I'd already caught intuitively.
And if I'm doing a good job? It's still constantly shifting between 5 and 12 fpm in my last 20 feet, from random small arm movement.
No, bars are actually more useful for me.

I think I understand the logic of monitoring bars as you do for 'riding' the correct ascent rate....but, there is a "Log Rate" in "System Setup" where you can set the interval...default was 10secs, I opted for every 5secs.....not certain if this will affect the ascent rate data posting speed....but with your issue of constantl shifts in digital readouts from arm movement going the other way may make more sense...I will play with that feature and can always stop spurious movement of computer for an accurate ascent rate...also do not know at what rate the bars reflect the 10ft/min increment changes....10ft/min is a big jump. In the end what works best for you is of course the best choice.

Yeah, I think log rate is just that. More data aquisition. I don't think it affects computations.
Let us know what you find out with holding your arm still!
