Hello,

My Wife and I are going this week to Playa Del Carmen and I was wondering if you all had any favorite dives down that way or Dive Operators that you all could recommend. We have only done Recreation diving in Jamaica( Did a discovery course PADI, loved it so much that we got certiifed while we were down there) and the BVI's(Wreck of the Rhone and the Indians). We are hoping to do a Cenote dive and some in the Riveria Maya area. Also, my wife and I have been playing with the idea of finally getting our own equipment as we only have Masks, Snorkels, and Fins. We were also thinking if we had our own equipment we could keep our skill level up more by doing some diving around here if there are a few good places. Some of the Equipment I had been considering was the Diverite Rec pacs and either there Regs or the Poseidon Regs and probably the new Sherwood Wisdom Dive computers but I am still all pretty new to this we have been certified for about a year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Where is a good dive shop with decent prices in the Louisville area that has a great diver network for trips and keeping you involved after the sale of your equipment. We Live in J-town

Thanks

I haven't been to Mexico but i can offer a little bit of info on the Rec Pac, since I bought one for my wife about 6 months ago. It is a very well made piece of equipment and will stand up to a lot of abuse. The only complaint that I have about it is that the velcro does not extend the entire legnth of the flap on the pocket which somtimes makes it hard to keep closed and it also tend to catch on my wifes wetsuit. I also think the price is very reasonable on it. However, if I were you I would try to find a place that will let you try a back inflate bcd. To me they are much more comfortable and feel better in the water.

I have heard great things about their regs as well. And again they seem to be a great value. I have been considering purchasing a set so that I can give them a shot.
