I just got a new Zeagle DS-V ZX. I have'nt bought a new geg in a while so Im wondering if I just go and dive with it.The last reg I bought I dove with it for a year before I got it serviced. I tested the new reg on my tank and It breaths fine. or should I send it to my LDS for a bench test.?

what is the standard procedure with new regs.

Thanks!

IMO, I would send it to your LDS just in-case, I think to everyone, you'd rather be safe than sorry.

*EDIT*- Unless you trust the service and sote, go for it.

Did you buy it from a dealer you trust? Are they an authorized Zeagle dealer? If so, just go dive it. I'd suggest being conservative on your first dive or two and test it out, but you shouldn't need to pay to have it tested when you just bought it. That should have happened at the factory and the dealer. I recently bought an Aqua Lung Legend LX and I just went out and used it, being conservative with it initially. I don't anticipate any issues.

hmmm.... well....

i would dive with it, then have it serviced a year from now, unless i have
issues with it after the first few dives

that's what i've done with all three new regs i've ever owned,
and never had a problem

all my regs have been bought on the internet

i don't think it's an issue

Make sure you can't take anything apart by hand and dive with it cautiously at first. They should be ready to go out of the box.

I was just wondering if being Idol at the shelf for a few years might ruin some rubber parts but quess not. Thanks!

LP is high volume sales so I would not expected it to have sat on their shelf too long. Shelf life on o-ring under proper storage conditions is quite good. But they can harden or take a set. If that has occurred, you should experience a leak. An inconvience but not a threat to your well being.
