There doesn’t appear to be one except the “B” doesn’t show the switch operation.

Could you please explain the differences between the two torches you list above? I can only see there is difference listed in the type of switch but I am unclear of the difference between a ring-type magnetic switch and a rotary switch.

I checked the 2 webpages you have links for but could not figure out the differences from looking there either.

Also, I like the fact that when I put “Xtar D20 1000” in the search field on Amazon Season 2 of Star Trek Next Gen is the first thing that comes up. I realize this has everything to do with Amazon’s algorithms and nothing to do with Xtar being a valid company (I know they are). I just think it’s funny!!

not really a fan of strobe on a dive light. maybe as a hidden function, but not one you have to regularly scroll through.

The only difference of D20/D20B 1000 is the switch. D20 1000 with ring-type magnetic switch, D20B 1000 with rotary switch.

The D20B looks like a royal pain in the arse as from the gif above it looks like one has to cycle the light on and off to change the mode (brightness) of the torch.

I am not a fan of rotating ring magnet switches...in time, the magnet tends to corrode leaving the torch fairly useless....even if the ring can be removed as with some torches, finding an affordable replacement magnet that will fit the inner diameter of the ring switch is very difficult. Typically the magnet is a small neodymium type, these are very brittle and lose their magnetic properties when heated above a certain temperature, so cutting/grinding one to size is not a reasonable solution for a DIY repair.

I am also not a fan of the type of switch on the D20B....the video posted by XTAR shows the battery is accessed by unscrewing the head of the torch...rotating the head (unscrewing/screwing) is also how the switch is operated. I have experienced and read of others experiences of loaning a torch with this type of switch only to find the diver it was loaned to unscrewed the head too much while underwater, or unscrewed it when they thought they were rotating the other direction, and the torch was flooded and basically destroyed.

Magnetic push-button switches where the magnet is completely encapsulated in plastic is my preference...the switch on the OrcaTorch D550 is an example.
