I'm headed to Almagoro NM next week for 2 months. I was hoping to do some snorkeling wile I'm there. is there any place close to there?

Check out the Rocky Mountain Oysters sub heading under the United States heading, in the general forum. There are a ton of NM divers on there.

The Blue Hole and Perch Lake in Santa Rosa, NM is the destination of choice. Blue Hole is an 85 foot deep spring with cool, clear water.

I wasn't aware that the Blue Hole was a snorkeling destination?? You may want to check out Lea Lake it's about a 2 hr. drive from your place. Also you may want to head to the Sea of Cortez if you get a long weekend for some warm water, tropical snorkeling.

I suppose its not a snorkeling destination, but I have seen free divers there.

There is no law against snorkeling there! A person could see a few fish and look down at all the divers!

My buddy and I have snorkelled some mountain rivers. Drift snorkelling. Once covered 5 miles!

We get desperate!

Not sure where Almagoro is, unless it's related to Almagordo, but Elephant Butte can be a good dive when the water clears up, 30+ on the viz at times.
