Hello folks,

I am 48 years old and (hopefully) close to getting my PADI Open Water Diver cert. My daughter, 16, did some snorkeling a few years ago at Catalina Island (Howland's Landing w/ Catalina Island Camps) and asked to get certified. She got a nice bday present when we signed her up and I decided to join her. I did get certified 30 years ago (at my St. Louis area high school) but decided to go through everything again. We live in Monrovia (10 mi east of Pasadena). Our upcoming open water dives include Redondo tomorrow and Catalina next week. Looking forward to some good times.

I loved diving Catalina. Dive Redondo once too, but that one was in Seattle.

Great gift for your daughter and in the long run for both of you... did you see a bunch of divers @ Redondo yesterday?? Hope you can join in soon... Let us know how the cert. went and drop on down to your new local forum ... http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/socal/ We will gladly help you and daughter get wet and have fun in the water and continue your education!

Thanks all. My daughter and I completed our final open water dives this past Saturday at Catalina. We went to Emerald Bay and Little Geiger. We are now certified and hoping to do a dive within the next few months.
