Hi

My storage locker was broken into a few months ago and taken was my dive equipment along with a few pieces of camping gear.

The good of it all is rental insurance covered the cost and I now have brand new dive gear (mine was 15 years old).

Wanted to get opinions on the equipment I purchased. I did extensive research and ultimately my decision came down to:

1) Reliability and reviews found online
2) Fit & comfort
3) Costs

I haven't been diving in a few years, but all of my diving has been done in the Pacific CA coast. I'll be diving in Monterey / SF area, so here is what I got...

- Aeris XT BC
- Aeris Atmos Pro computer/console
- Aqua Lung Cousteau reg
- O'Neil 7000x 7mm suit

I've read mixed reviews on the AL Cousteau reg, but ultimately for the price, it seemed to be a good deal.

I haven't found many comments online regarding the XT BC, but I found the fit to be great compared to even other higher-end BC's. Granted, it could use more pockets and D rings, but hey...

I've ready many great comments on the Aeris Atmos Pro computer, but I'd still like to get feedback from the group.

Thanks, and I'm excited to get back in the water after a few years!!

Welcome to the boards!!

I'm not familiar with your equipment so I won't comment.

It is recomended that after 6 months without a dive we take a refresher coarse......... Just to make sure we're up on our skills.:)

Glad to hear you're getting back into diving!

See you 'round the boards!!

welcome to the board. As far as your new equipment goes, I haven't used any of it, I do believe the O'Neil suit is a good choice.:)

Welcome. I am new to this board also. You will read a wide variety of opinions which is really helpful when they are backed up with a rational reason-which is most of the time.
I know there is a large following that is cringing that you didn't get a bp/wings :D
I am no help with your gear.
Where will you be diving at?
regards, Bill

THanks for your comments!! This board has some useful stuff, glad I could join.

I'll be diving around Monterey, California. I'm heading down to Catalina for a two-day dive trip next month.

Yeah, I've purchased a 'tune-up' guide and I'm going out next week with some guys to get my 'refresher' stuff taken care of.

What are the advantages of using a BC with wings?
