Hey, my name is Monica and I just got my open water certification in August.
What an excrutiating wait it had been up until that point. I don't even remember when I became so determined to dive, but my time came while on vacation in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize.
Wow...I don't even know how to explain what an amazing place that is to first experience diving.
I absolutely can't wait to get back down there. I've never felt more awe-struck, or more totally at home than I did while I was so far under the water.
If you haven't been diving there yet, and you get the chance, take the opportunity. There is no way you could possibly regret it. It's nearly three months later and my mind is still reeling from the experience.

I LOVE DIVING!!!!
(I'm also a dork, but hey I'm okay with that.)

~Monica

ps I haven't even looked around this site yet, but I can already tell it rocks because this :tree: is one of the smilies

Welcome aboard Monica. Im fairly new here to, but ive been diving for a few years now. The people around here share our passion and are not scared to talk about it and share ideas, and quick to help.

Today I saw a juvinile(sp?) Wolf eel, very large octopus in its den and a sculpin and got some pictures with my new camera! Diving rocks. Best part is, it was only 20 minutes from where I live in Victoria!

Sounds like Belize would be awesome. Closest I can get is the trip to Cozumel I booked for December. At ;east for now. I did some diving in Cuba last year though!

What diving you plan to do next??

Cheers,
CLay

20 minutes from where you live! Ah, I wish I had something like that around here.
I don't know about where I'll be diving next...it depends on my spring break and/or summer plans. I wish at least one of my friends was certified so that we could go on a trip together.
I'd really like to check out the wrecks around Florida, but if I can get any more tropical than that and stay within a reasonable budget, then that's where I'll be.
I guess it's just a waiting game for the time being : )

Welcome to the party line. Great place for your long surface intervals, learning more and all.

 don

Welcome to DC...

Yes... Scuba DOES rock... DC does also - at least until you get freaked out by the go-go attitude.

The best diving staff is at Splash Dive Center in Alexandria - stop by and tell Clement, Dori, or Ron that Alex says hello!
