you got your own gear - that is much more important than the brand.
 
Well, for everything but the snorkel and fins, fit is the most important quality -- and having your own, that you picked out for fit, will make your class more pleasant. Don't forget to scrub your new mask with toothpaste before your first class session, so it won't fog up!

I would have advised against the split fins, because it's difficult for OW students to stabilize themselves with a tank on their back, and the splits don't help much. But a lot of people like using split fins, because they are easy to kick.

Have fun with your class -- you're getting certified in a great place to be a diver!
 
Sounds like you did great. I have the same fins and love them. I don't pay any atteAntion to the don't use split fin crowd, they keep me from having leg cramps, and as far as thrust, your not in a race. And yes I have used paddle fins jets to tusa.
