My favorite diving trip is on liveaboard in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, where often the sea surface almost as flat as in a lake, with islands popping out from the shallow sea bottom like mushrooms.
I don't have to carry my gears on to the tender. The crews will do that for me. I just don my BCD on while sitting on the tender, as we are heading to the dive site. When we are ready to get into the water, I just sit the ledge of the tender & do a backroll into the water, 2' below the tender ledge.
Getting on the boat is just as easy. I doff my BCD in the water, hand it off to the crew, then climb up the 2-rung ladder.
