I talked to PST today.

The current scoop is that the new tanks will start becoming available at the end of January.

I called them because its been over a month with no update, and its way, way past due.

Why not call and rattle them a bit - their scuba division is out there on the "left coast" :)

When I spoke with them in April, they told me "near the end of June"

You know the first rule in scuba.........

Don't hold your breath

these were officially "announced" at DEMA, so I suspect they have a reason to get off their butts at this point, simply due to the supply of the old tanks drying up.

I didn't wait. I bought 2 LP 104's
But........ I'll be ready to buy 2 more tanks next spring.
Then I'll double 2 of them up. :)

dual LP104s overpumped (133s)

I can imagine I might want dual HP100s @ 3000 PSI (85cuft each) doubled together, and that combination is ~30lbs lighter than a pair of LP104s!

Genesis once bubbled...

You might be surprised. I use dual 104's that are regularly jacked up. It's nice to be carrying all that gas . Even if I don't plan to use it, it fulfills one of the contingencies in which you will need to decompress on your back gas instead of on your deco gas (seriously increased hangs).

As for HP100's, I agree that they will work, but I think that the swing is greater than on LP tanks.

Up here, the LP's are nice because the increased weight of the tank means that we don't carry lead even when we dive dry.

then you can't dive them wet, because you'd be seriously overweighted.

I could, on the other hand, dive a pair of HP100s wet, and need close to zero weight, but still be able to weight out, particularly with an aluminum plate.

With LP104s there's no way I could get away with that in a wetsuit.

Anyone know off hand what the thread will be. I just ordered DR combo kit for my Al 80s. 300bar Manifold w/iso, 7.25 bands & bolts for $200 & want wanting to move these to new LP or the new PST tanks later. I'll get singles for banding & use the DIN valves from the single steels for my Al & move the new Manifold to the steels.... ...... Did that make sense?

I also bought my DR Al BP/Classic wing & harness for $200. It all comes in Thursday. hehehehehehe

Any ideas what my weighting might be w/LP 95 from PST (the new ones) or Faber/OMS? :
I now dive fresh, 3mm 1pc goldcore & the 5mm goldcore farmerjohn shorty w/a 6-5 Akona hood, TPII, Catalina Al 80 & 6# of weight.

Thanks,
