There have been a lot of comments re 100 foot dives and for new divers this may be an undue cause for concern. Most of the walls start at 40-50 feet and it is not necessary to go to 100. Newer divers can stay shallower and still keep up with the group easily. A hundred foot dive is always multilevel and the DM and group won't be at that depth for long anyway. The water is crystal clear in GCM and deep diving does not feel in any way claustriphobic.

It's more than 20 minutes from Rum Point to Ocean Frontiers. I'd go with the local operator. If they don't look after you on day 1 of diving, you can then think about travelling to OF.

Ocean Frontiers will set the standard for customer service. Just finished 2 weeks with them, second time with them. Would take them again in instant.
Find out if Silversides are still at Eden Rock when you are there. If they are, book a dive with Eden Rock dive shop and make the drive. Its amazing and an easy shore dive. Tey will guide you and its only at 40-50 ft. deep. Likely they are gone by then but you never know. Here is a posting of pics from the trip and 2 video with the silversides.

If it was 35 minutes, it would still be worth the drive. Go with Ocean Frontiers. :)

Also, great shots kcmayes.

Silversides are thick at Grouper Grotto right now. My family and I are finishing up a week at OF and absolutely love it. Definitely tell them your experience level and they will get you on appropriate sites.

I leave for OF in 4 weeks but I'm afraid they'll be gone by then. :(
